The Plot: Andy Sachs reunites with Miranda Priestly as they navigate their careers amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing.
Miranda Priestly is Back!
Our favorite workplace drama villain has returned after 20 long years, and she still looks stunning in that classy, elegant white wig. In this film, Miranda exhibits a more relaxed demeanor in some scenes, while in others, she appears polished and refined. I truly wish that the warm moment she shared with Andy at her house in the Hamptons could have been mirrored in the final scene with him. We all know that Miranda can be brutal, and her smile can even be intimidating. The only person with whom she was genuinely calm and at ease in the film was her new husband. I found myself pondering why, if she could show kindness to him, she couldn’t extend the same courtesy to everyone else.
Christian Dior vs. Runway
We now shift our focus to Emily Charlton, who has taken the reins at Dior and has moved on from her previous role at Runway. She is thriving in her new position, showcasing her talents and creativity. However, when Miranda finds herself in need of Emily’s expertise, it feels akin to asking a long-time adversary for a favor. Emily has matured significantly; she is now a mother of two and is happily in love with Benji Barnes. Her presence in the film adds a delightful touch of humor, making her character memorable.
The dynamic between Emily and Andy is somewhat strained, leaving viewers to wonder if their relationship will soften by the film’s conclusion. I truly appreciated the fresh setup for this movie, particularly the stunning backdrops of New York City that enhance the narrative. Having watched the trailer numerous times, I found myself recalling each scene as it unfolded on screen, creating a sense of anticipation and familiarity throughout the film.
The Devil Wears Prada
Even though this film was a highly anticipated sequel, I found it fell short of earning an “A” grade from me. The overall narrative felt incomplete, though I can’t quite pinpoint what was lacking. While the story progressed as expected and all the key events unfolded, there was an intangible element that seemed absent from this sequel. However, I must say that the film showcased an abundance of fashion and glamour, surpassing its predecessor in that regard.
While I believe this film is worth watching at any time, I can’t help but feel that the conclusion didn’t meet my expectations. It’s possible that others may have a different perspective, but for me, there was a significant and essential element that felt absent, resulting in a lingering sense of disappointment. The narrative, while engaging, left me yearning for a more fulfilling resolution that would have tied together the character arcs and themes more effectively.

Thank you for sharing. I was entertained, and at the end of the day, that’s all I wanted! It was great to see the cast back together, navigating a fashion industry that has completely shifted into a digital-first world since we last saw them twenty years ago. I loved how they showcased a softer side of Miranda midway through, opening up to Andy while no one else was watching was a cute moment. Then her management style clash with modern HR policies (my field) and the fast-paced digital age was hilarious and gave Miranda a fresh layer of relatability.
IMO it’s a solid sequel that manages to capture the spirit of the original while proving that even the most formidable boss has to evolve eventually.
I sincerely appreciate your consistently comprehensive assessments and your proactive approach to sharing your insights and perspectives. I value your input on my reviews and eagerly anticipate reading them.
Incredible review—and I’m so very lucky to have watched it with you and to be at the premiere. What a fun, fun, unforgettable experience!
Yes, that was a great experience to share with you.
This isn’t my usual type of movie. Tbh I only watched the 1st one because I like Mark Strong & Anne Hathaway. I’ll give it a go
Mark Strong was not in the first one—I think you are talking about Stanley Tucci. They both are BOTH bald-headed, and I think that you are confused by the bald heads. LOL
Lol whoops, my bad
No, you’re good!
I think in a world of chaos we all live for nostalgia and this was a love letter to us. This is the year of that it seems. Trying to recapture the magic one film has is a very challenging thing but finding that comfort of seeing characters we love come together again and getting to see what they’ve done with their lives is worth it. It will never be the original but at least we get to see how they progressed.
Agree. Miranda had a softer side to her, but if she can be gentle and soft with her husband, why can’t she do that in all aspects of her life?
