The Plot: Follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.
Bryan: The Heroic Medical Courier
Bryan is a dedicated medical courier responsible for transporting vital organs and essential medical supplies to various hospitals and clinics for patients in need of transplants. One fateful night in Raccoon City, he encounters a horrifying situation that tests his resolve. Despite the danger, he secures the precious medical contents in his courier bag, fully aware of the immense value and rarity of life. His commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of these critical items shines through, even when circumstances seem dire. From the very beginning of the film, it was clear that he possesses a strong desire to help others. However, he is also grappling with personal issues involving his girlfriend, Michelle, during a phone call, which raises questions about his true appreciation for life, given the gravity of his profession and the challenges he faces.
Catatonia Sparks an Alluring Outbreak
The woman Bryan accidentally hits while on his call with his girlfriend, Michelle, is in a state of catatonia, frozen in shock. If I were in Bryan’s shoes, I might have chosen to flee the scene, overwhelmed by the chaos around me. The sight of someone in such a distressing condition would likely compel me to prioritize my own safety. However, Bryan’s character is portrayed as deeply loving, caring, and compassionate, qualities that define him as an exceptional medical courier. It’s tragic what unfolds for him in the film, as it often seems that good-hearted individuals face the harshest trials, regardless of the kindness they contribute to the world. They endure immense suffering while selflessly giving more than others, which feels profoundly unjust. The narrative raises a poignant question: why do the truly good people, deserving of love, redemption, and blessings, often find themselves in dire situations? This thought lingered in my mind as I watched Bryan navigate his harrowing journey in the movie.
Intriguingly Gruesome and Hilarious
I’m fully aware that this film is classified as a horror film, yet from start to finish it was surprisingly comical. The humor stemmed primarily from one character, Bryan, portrayed brilliantly by Austin Abrams. He deserves a standing ovation for carrying the film as the sole main character, delivering his performance with both conviction and passion.
Bryan’s role is crucial; he is the only medical courier in a single city in Colorado, tasked with delivering something critically important to Raccoon City General Hospital. Throughout the film, he remains unaware of the contents of his courier bag, only knowing that it holds something potentially life-saving. This aspect of his job is what he cherishes most—delivering something of immense value to someone else, even if it isn’t his own.
The humor in the film effectively balances the overall tone. Bryan’s facial expressions and his internal monologues provide comedic relief, especially during tense moments, such as when he encounters tentacles merging together or witnesses people and animals being infected by an unknown force. Despite the overwhelming gore, blood splatter, and chaos surrounding him, Bryan does his utmost to navigate the dire situation.
However, I personally found the film’s ending unsatisfactory, though it does set the stage for a potential sequel. Whether there will be one remains uncertain, leaving viewers in suspense.

As a fan of the Milla Jovovich Resident Evil films, this is easily the best one!
This was not based on her RE films, were they?
The Jovovich films are completely separate, this was like a reboot
OK
Thanks so much for your insight!! I appreciate your reviews and really trust them!
Thanks—as you should value and trust them as you do me.
Everything you said in your review is absolutely correct. I loved that I got to laugh a little bit from the main characters yelling and the way he screamed. I definitely would have left that lady I hit right in the woods because what’s more important than delivering the package?
I loved how it felt like I was in a VR game.
I’m a classic Resident Evil fan, so when they added some symbolic gameplay items in there, I totally caught on. I was so excited. I can’t wait for this movie to come out streaming-wise because I’m definitely going to buy an add to my Resident Evil DVDs. It was so good the ending. I’m a little upset, but I think it leaves it open for a part two in the future because we did not see him die. We did not see the antidote explode either, but hey, I’m happy I got to see it. I loved it 500 out of 10.
I told you that you would enjoy it!!!
I will have to check it out then.
If you love gore and horror as you tell me that you do – SEE THIS!
Yay – we finally agree on a horror movie!!! I loved everything about it! Absolutely loved Austin Abrams in this but I couldn’t stand his character in The Walking Dead! LOL. He redeemed himself in this movie! Looking forward to Whalefall.
We have agreed on other films! Is he gonna be in “Whalefall?”
Yes, that’s him in Whalefall!!
Check ✅️
Definitly enjoyed this…. although I still love the others – this is a great new fresh start!
Great! I agree with you!
I did not like the movie—and I continuously felt like the main character was stupid! 😂 It was a waste of time in my opinion.
I understand your perspective; it was hard to tell if it was a horror or a comedy. The gore was satisfyingly intense, but I can appreciate your viewpoint.
