Gore Galore!!
I have to say, first and foremost, that the gore in this movie was excessive. Compared to its predecessor, “Evil Dead Rise,” which struck the right balance between horror and gore, this film felt like a relentless barrage of bloodshed. The constant onslaught of gore every few seconds made it difficult to appreciate the moments of suspense and thrill that are crucial for keeping audiences engaged.
Spacing out the gory scenes would have allowed for a more effective build-up of tension and surprise, which is essential for maintaining viewer interest. While some of the gore was indeed shocking and unsettling in a good way, it ultimately became overwhelming. The graphic imagery on screen was captivating yet excessive, reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” films in its sheer volume of blood and violence.
Throughout the “Evil Dead” series, there has always been a significant amount of blood, kills, and gore, but this installment pushed the limits a bit too far for my taste. The film’s relentless focus on gore overshadowed the storytelling and character development, making it feel more like a spectacle than a cohesive narrative.
The Brothers: Jospeh & William Price
As the first fire ignites at Joseph’s family’s lake house, he diligently researches his late grandfather Benjamin’s studies on the Necronomicon and Deadites. During his investigation, he uncovers the Kandarian Dagger, which Benjamin asserts can annihilate Deadites. This revelation draws the attention of Deadite Jessica, who ruthlessly kills a pair of fishermen before heading toward Joseph. He is interrupted by his brother, Will, a character marked by his significant anger issues and aggressive behavior towards his wife, Alice. In his attempt to defuse a tense situation, Will becomes ensnared in a nightmare he cannot escape. Once cursed with the Deadite virus, he becomes a relentless force, spreading the infection to every last person and thing in the family lake house. Remember, the Deadites thrive on spreading loss, conflict, and pain throughout society. Once infected, you might believe you are immortal, but that is far from the truth.
Evil Dead Wrath
There is only one survivor in this movie, and while you might guess who it is, I won’t spoil it for you. However, I will mention that there are two post-credit scenes worth waiting for, as they provide some backstory and set up the next chapter, “Evil Dead Wrath.” This prequel will explore the origins of the Deadite virus and how it spread among people. It is scheduled to hit theaters on April 7, 2028.
Overall, I was impressed with the film, though it felt a bit chaotic at times. Some scenes didn’t make perfect sense initially, but upon reflection, they did. The pacing was rapid, and the plot felt repetitive, with one person getting infected and trying to kill everyone, only for the cycle to repeat. In contrast, previous films took their time and weren’t rushed. Despite this, it is a brutal, gory, and bloody experience that fans of the Evil Dead franchise will likely enjoy.

It was, but for you and some of the other horror freaks in the Group, it was really SHOCKING for me to read that it grossed some of y’all out considering you all crave gross & gory! Lol

Complete disappointment. If you want full blown blood and gore with nothing else…this is your movie. Other than that it stunk. With it being almost a 2 hour movie, they could have spent just a bit more time on creating a storyline to play off the grand father. But I’m sure thay comes in the next movie Evil Dead Wrath.

Well, I loved it! I couldn’t jump a lot! LOL – which were quite a few. I will say it was fast-paced so the two hours went quick …can’t wait for the next one!!!!

I thought it was OK. There was at least one part where I jumped. But other than that, I felt it was just OK.
I have been clear about this – everyone anticipated this film, and for it to turn out as merely average or just okay is truly disappointing – it absolutely is!
Sam Raimi’s original trilogy is legendary for its campy, over-the-top comedic horror flare. While the modern franchise has largely traded the slapstick comedy for pure, unadulterated terror, it has never lost its signature intensity. Fede Álvarez’s 2013 remake was a fantastic, relentless survival horror, and Evil Dead Rise turned up the volume on urban claustrophobia and elevator gore. But Evil Dead Burn is just straight-up insane. It pushes the boundaries of practical effects with a staggering amount of visual nastiness that will have you cringing in your seat from start to finish.
Having only caught the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead and I wasn’t familiar with the deeper Deadite mythology, the film works beautifully as a standalone entry that honors the relentless, mean-spirited horror of the modern reboots while cranking the dial past eleven. It’s a spectacular ride for horror junkies like myself and it sets the bar incredibly high for the upcoming prequel. I didn’t mind the gore even it made cringe a few times.

Finally got to see it today. It was good but didn’t make me jump not even once. Plenty of gore but not scary. I thought Rise was scarier. The kiss scene was the most disgusting part lol.
I agree. RISE was waaaay better …slower and calmer where I felt like I was in a twister with this movie – everything was happening @ rapid speeds!
It’s funny, as I age I find the gory films less appealing, like when we saw Thanksgiving, that opening scene in the mall was a little much for me, but I enjoyed the story. I am fascinated by how they turned this cheesy movie into a horror, though, so for that I would watch it.
