The Plot: After the death of Shiloh Hunter, her sister Jax agrees to a tribute proposed by Shiloh’s daring friend, Luce. The two travel to Thailand to conquer a treacherous plank walk on Mount Kwan, but a sudden rockslide leaves them trapped at a terrifying 3,000-foot elevation, forcing the duo to push their limits and cooperate to survive.
Thailand’s Mount Kwan
This film is a direct sequel to the 2022 film of the same name. It does not necessarily pick up right where its predecessor leaves off, but it includes flashbacks and memories of Jax’s older sister, Shiloh. Their sisterly bond is explored, highlighting Shiloh’s millions of followers and her lifelong, albeit dangerous, excursions that have captivated audiences as she pursues her passions and confronts her fears. Shiloh consistently encouraged Jax to stand up for herself and face her own fears, particularly her fear of heights. Shiloh’s bravery was never in doubt; when she set her mind to something, she faced it head-on.
Jax and her friend Luce embark on a wild adventure for two main reasons: (1) to help Jax confront her fears and (2) to honor Shiloh’s memory. Personally, I would never attempt to face my fears in such an extreme manner. There are many other ways to conquer fears, and when I saw the jagged edges, rocks, and precarious wooden boards and ladders on the mountain with loose screws, I knew I wouldn’t even consider it. If I had a sibling who enjoyed dangerous activities, that would be their choice. I would seek out safer methods to confront my fears rather than engage in something I know I wouldn’t do.
Conquering Their Fears
Jax and Luce found themselves teetering on the brink of disaster, stranded at an alarming altitude of 3,000 feet. With nothing but oxygen tanks to stave off the creeping effects of altitude sickness and the disorienting delusions that accompany such heights, they faced a harrowing reality. The isolation was palpable; there was no cell service, no radio, and no means to call for help. This dire situation heightened the tension and urgency of their struggle for survival. While the film attempted to capture the thrill of their perilous adventure, it ultimately fell short of the expectations set by its predecessor, leaving viewers wishing for a more compelling narrative and a definitive conclusion to the story.
The Dead End of It All
The conclusion of the film was a genuine shock to me, despite having imagined my own possible ending. The way the film maintained a gripping atmosphere, keeping the audience in suspense throughout, was truly impressive. I found myself completely absorbed, as the tension built with each passing moment, making it difficult to look away. Experiencing this film in a premium format would have been a dream come true, as I could only imagine how much more intense and immersive the visuals and sound would have been. Unfortunately, my local theater lacks the capability to provide such options, which was disappointing. I was particularly curious about how much more “real” the experience could feel in a state-of-the-art movie theater, where every sound and image could envelop me, enhancing the emotional impact of the story.

I have a fear of heights, so I had to turn my head a couple times for a brief moment! LOL! This is more “horror” to me. No way I do something like that! Scares the h**l out of me just watching it!
Imagine if this were in 4DX or even 3D? I don’t think that you would have survived—neither me! LOL
Right!!!!!
Pass. This isn’t my type.
It’s not for everyone.
This movie kept me in the edge of my seat and my heart was racing. I’m not afraid of heights, just falling. My wife says I’m afraid of heights.
She is partially correct. If you are afraid of falling from any height, you are technically afraid of heights. However, if you can stand on a tall building and look down without fear, then you are not scared of heights. Conversely, if you cannot go to the roof of a skyscraper and look down due to fear, you have some degree of fear of heights. The best way to test this is to visit NYC and go to places like Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building, as New York has some of the tallest buildings and skyscrapers in the world.
Wow!!! I didn’t see the first movie and I had no interest in seeing this. But now, after your review, I’m very intrigued and interested. I always appreciate your thorough reviews and opinions. Thanks!
Yeah – if you’re afraid of heights, then this is not the movie for you, but I think that you can handle it.
I have a VR Oculus, so I play the game all the time! LOL! It shouldn’t be that bad, but I wouldn’t dare do what they are doing.
Yeah – ain’t no way in hell I will be trying what they did.
Great review! I can image that this keeps you on the edge of your seat. I agree with you that just because your family enjoy something doesn’t mean you need to indulge as well. I wonder, do people that go to the extreme with their lives, fear death? Once again, great review. I didn’t see the movie but I get all I need from this review.
Yeah – like I said – this was a sequel that did not have to be made, but I would watch this again over “Insidious!”
This trailer was intense. I should watch the first one but Oy! Nightmare unlocked!
The first was much better IMO.
