Plot: A directionless man (Harry Melling) is swept off his feet when an enigmatic, impossibly handsome biker, Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), takes him on as his submissive.
Total BDSM Galore Here!!!
Bondage, Discipline, Dominance, Submission, and Sadism and Masochism. It refers to a wide range of consensual, interpersonal, and frequently sexual behaviors that include power exchange, role-playing, and physical sensations such as light restriction or impact. Consent, safe words, and trust are the three guiding principles. I will never fully grasp or understand this concept, let alone why anyone in today’s society practices it. From 50 Shades of Grey to this film, completely dominating and attempting to impose dominance on someone as a form of lovemaking or anything remotely resembling love or a relationship is, in my opinion, sick and beyond deplorable.
Changing The Dynamic Of It All
It really impresses me when couples are in these types of dominant relationships; at least in the movies that I’ve personally seen, such as this one and the 50 Shades series, it appears that the dominant in the relationship had some sort of trauma happen to them in their lives that transformed them into being so dominant and alpha. Is this really true? Do you believe that this type of behavior is taught or develops over time? In this film, Ray is a dominant biker looking for another submissive! As the film progressed, I realized Ray wanted to allow himself to feel and exhibit “soft tendencies” toward Colin, just as Christian Grey did with Anastasia in the 50 Shades films. I believe that if a dominant-type person meets a “true submissive” who craves love and the ability to feel, they have the power to transform them into a true relationship that they both desire but will never express.
What Is a Pillion, Exactly?
It’s a “passenger seat behind a motorcycle.” “Don’t you think that sounds like a ‘submissive’ person? Riding on the back of a motorcycle, with the main biker in front doing all of the heavy lifting. There is a total and complete connection and similarity to this, which is why I believe this film was titled as it was. Personally, I believe that there are relationships for all sexual orientations, but this is one of many that I would never condone. I see the possibility of an actual relationship as two people committing to love each other and sharing genuine, human emotion and connection. In a BDSSM relationship, one person HAS TO BE the submissive while the “other ” demands and controls. That’s not love, a relationship, or anything at all. Controlling and ruling over others is barbaric to me, and it always will be. As previously stated, there are “not conventional” relationships that couples approve and enjoy, which is fine because everyone has the right to their own personal relationship preferences, but change is something that can occur at any time and with anyone.

I will probably give this a try at some point. I do like Alexander Skarsgård. I agree though, to each their own, but I don’t understand the dynamic behind that kind of relationship.
That is precisely what I articulated in my assessment. I find it to be unequivocally deplorable and unacceptable AF! SO NOT SORRY! 👍
I know of the “50 Shades” saga, but never seen the movies in its entirety. Due to personal convictions, I will skip it kinda the same reasons we walked out from On Swift Horses’ Screen Unseen halfway through. The Skarsgårds are pretty good actors, these types of films no longer interest me. BDSSSM is fetish that I will never understand but know people out there that feel the need, so to each their own.
I can’t say thank you for agreeing with me due to everyone not sharing the same opinion on this topic, but as we both have stated, not everyone will always see eye to eye or agree, but to each their own. Our stance is clear on it, though. Never saw “On Swift Horses” but heard it was horrible like “Magazine Dreams.”
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. We sat through Magazine Dreams and couldn’t get the point of the film. Don’t get me wrong, Jonathan Majors did a good job portraying a tortured soul of a man that couldn’t catch a break, and kinda wanted a happy ending for him. Wish Disney would rehire him to close his Kang arc.
Ever since those allegations hit him, he has not had a chance to be in or do anything like his last name – maybe he should change it to Jonathan Minors & see what happens, maybe? 🤣
It’s definitely an interesting thing and the fact that so many people fall to that surprises me, but to each their own. But, I’m sure Skarsgård was incredible in it aside from you not liking the concept – you can’t negate his incredible performance. I’ve only seen pieces of it and was impressed.
Yes – he gave a stellar performance indeed! I CANNOT argue with you there!
