Plot: A group of friends’ tropical vacation turns into a terrifying, primal tale of horror and survival!!!
Now THIS Is How YOU Primate!
Man, oh man, where do I even start? I was completely unprepared for the journey that awaited me when I chose to watch this movie. I knew it was a horror film, but I had no idea it would take me to such extreme and unexpected levels. It felt like a twisted version of “Cujo,” but instead of a frenzied dog, we were confronted with a chimpanzee spiraling into madness, behaving with an unsettling level of intelligence that mirrored human characteristics. This is likely why the audience erupted in laughter—Ben, the chimp, was cleverly outsmarting the unsuspecting kids! While I want to label this as a genuine horror film, I found it leaned more towards suspense.

All The Feels …For Realz!
I was perched on the edge of my seat, gripped by a palpable sense of anxiety, rather than drowning in sheer terror as one would expect from a classic horror flick. In the end, this is the blueprint for an exceptional horror film—brimming with nail-biting tension that leaves you pondering the “what ifs.” It’s a thrilling ride that keeps you restless, eagerly anticipating the next twist, unsure of what horrors might unfold. The movie masterfully incorporates all the elements necessary for an exhilarating cinematic experience, and that is undoubtedly a triumph!

The Gory Deaths
The kills in the movie were effectively executed, striking a good balance between intensity and restraint. I really appreciated that the pacing kept viewers engaged throughout, with each kill creating a sense of tension and unease. It’s impressive how the film maintains suspense and manages to deliver such a compelling experience. Overall, this movie sets an excellent tone for the start of 2026!

A Happy Ending?
Once the film concludes, you might find yourself pondering whether a sequel could be made—and if so, what it might entail. One undeniable aspect of the experience is the profound compassion you will feel for the character Ben. It’s nearly impossible to remain emotionally unaffected. Without revealing any spoilers, you’ll quickly understand that when you form a deep bond with an animal or a person, and something happens that transforms them suddenly and drastically, it opens up a floodgate of emotions. If you possess empathy and an open heart, you’ll be compelled to reflect on the circumstances that led to this unexpected change. The contrast between their previous behavior and their current state can be jarring, especially when there were no prior indications that something was amiss. This journey invites viewers to explore themes of love, loss, and the complexities of change, making the emotional weight of the storyline all the more impactful.

I’m glad you liked it …. I have mixed feelings on it !!
What wasn’t to like about it, Boss Lady. Tell me …
First Screen Unseen of the year, so I couldn’t say it’s the best of the year since there no other contenders yet. I agree with you, not a traditional horror or scary movie, but it’s a brutal horror and gore-fest that doesn’t hold back. A fun, over-the-top survival flick that will get you vested in the characters and the chimp. Well, at least for me.
I could not have said this better myself, Bro! I love it when people agree with me on my reviews!
This is what I want when I go to see a horror film at the theater. It keeps you interested in the characters and still delivers a punch.
I know that is what you want, Killer! Would you like to have a Ben of your very own though?
You had me at the “Cujo” reference. I find in the trailer alone when Ben said “Bad…….bad” that was frightening, and with that I know I’ll love this horror film.
Oh, its pretty BAD BAD alright as in the Michael Jackson “BAD” Music Video ‘aka’ meaning such a RAD BAD movie!
It was a good movie especially with nothing being out right now. But it wasn’t great. Had the feel of Jurassic Park tangled with I Know What You Did Last Summer. I still find “We Bury The Dead” to be better in my opinion.
You really REALLY enjoyed the zombie movie over this?
Definitely!
Wow! I’m speechless! Soooo and I do mean soooo many people said this movie was total nonsense and pointless – but not everyone views – or even sees films the same.
