Plot: In the series’s most brutal chapter, Maya (Madelaine Petsch) collides with the masked killers and finds the only way out of the nightmare…is in!
There’s Nothing …”Strange”
Even though there was a lot of hype around the big reveal of the other two mysterious strangers, there really wasn’t much suspense at all. In Chapter 2, we already find out that Shelly—the girl who worked at the diner—was one of the masked killers and was Pin-Up Girl. That just left Dollface and the Scarecrow.
Honestly, by the time Chapter 2 rolled around, it wasn’t that hard to figure out who the Scarecrow was. The flashbacks made it clear he was really close with Shelly growing up, and then there’s the scene where Maya gets stopped in the rain by the truck with four people and starts having visions of the masked strangers. Even though she can’t fully tell if it’s really them, the clues are pretty obvious.
The final chapter made it feel like something big was coming—something that would redeem Chapter 2 and give the story a strong finish—but instead, it just kind of fell flat.
All Over The Place!
Honestly, the movie just wasn’t very scary or intimidating, especially when you compare it to the other films under this title, like The Strangers: Prey at Night. That one worked as a standalone—it gave us the jump scares, the buildup, and that constant, nail-biting tension. This movie, on the other hand, didn’t really deliver anything that felt genuinely scary or unsettling.
It kept jumping back and forth between the past and present, trying to explain why the three masked killers are who they are and why they kill the way they do. And while it did manage to answer most of the lingering questions, one big one is still left hanging: why wasn’t Dollface’s identity revealed like Pin-Up Girl’s and The Scarecrow’s?
The ONE Remaining Survivor
It is fairly clear—either through direct knowledge or reasonable deduction—that Maya is the last one standing. This is neither a secret nor a mystery. Of the three chapters, only one truly stood out as both strong and enjoyable, as it contained the key elements and characteristics expected of a successful horror/slasher film. Madelaine Petsch delivered a strong performance across all three films and deserves significant recognition for her portrayal of Maya.
Closing The Strangers …
This chapter should be the final one. There’s no need for a prequel—the last two chapters already used flashbacks to address unanswered questions and clear up the mysteries. Another sequel or chapter isn’t necessary either. Unless the final two chapters are a major success, I don’t see this continuing at all. That’s disappointing because the series has real potential, but it needs to live up to its killer reputation and deliver something truly game-changing for its fans.

Definitely gave me some insight on what to look forward to!!! Don’t look forward to anything, but the same things from previous movies, and get a few questions answered but still left leaving with blue balls… Got it!
You pretty much summed it all up! Blue balls! Girl, you is something else!
I just watched Chapter 2 last night…. I may wait for streaming to see this one. But, I’ll definitely finish the series.
Sounds good to me—but it’s not something I’d rush to the theater to see. Sadly, I can admit I was one of those people who rushed, because I loved the entire series. It just sucks that it had to end this way.
I do prefer the actors from Chapter 1 over the original, but the rest of it was a mess, altogether “Prey at Night” is the BETTER of the 3 I’ve seen…
You’re not alone in that FACT! I do also think that “Prey @ Night” was the best out of ALL of the movies!! But, I still loved Chapter 1 …but 2 and 3 were disappointments to me and it kills me to even say that, but I SPEAK THE TRUTH!
Glad we took a pass on seeing this one – and saw “Send Help” again!
Did you really skip seeing this one in particular – or did you NOT watch the previous 2 chapters?
This was horrendous. This whole re-imagining was horrible. I have to agree with the critics on rotten tomatoes when it comes to this.
I think it could have absolutely been better, but I take THIS over HIM!
Oh no no. I can watch HIM several more times. Not this triple crap show!! LOL
What!?!?!? U are …crazy! Lol
