Plot: When a new Ghostface Killer emerges in the town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life for herself, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), becomes the next target!
A Ghostface Return of 2 …or Even Maybe 3!
χWow, it has been 3 years since SCREAM 6, and it never gets old seeing Neve in these films. SCREAM isn’t SCREAM without Neve! She does not just make these movies; she IS the movie! I never tire of seeing “more than just one” Ghostface murderer! We all know that multiple Ghostface killers will appear in the film, but only one or two, if not more, will be after the sole survivor, Sidney, and we must investigate why they are always targeting her. Duh. We already know why—she is immortal to them, and they want to be “on top” and have the killer spotlight of the day that they killed the infamous Sidney Prescott-Evans!
Tatum Evans: The Daughter
Tatum was correct in recognizing that her mother tried to shield her from her past and the very traumatic events that she had experienced, aiming to prevent her past from becoming Tatum’s “new normal.” While it is natural for parents to protect their children, withholding such information can leave them unprepared for all future challenges. I was particularly moved by the line Tatum tells her mother: “I want to be a survivor …like you.” This moment reveals Tatum’s strong admiration for her mother’s strength and her desire to face adversity with resilience. Parents often believe they are acting in their best interests, but sometimes their efforts to protect can unintentionally leave their children vulnerable, as Tatum’s experience demonstrates.
A Blast From The SCREAM Past!
I appreciate that we were brought back to the past SCREAM films with references to people in Sidney’s past, how she became the fearless, unstoppable, and fierce woman that she is today, how Tatum came to be named her birth name, and the reasons as to why that came to be; the STAB movies; all of the references from previous films; what happened to Gail in the last film; Stu Macher; and so much more! All of these fundamental elements from the past 6 films made it that much easier to follow along in this sequel that everyone was hyped for. The film was not “as gory and violent” as I personally was expecting it to be, but nonetheless, it made a killing! That’s for sure!!!
